Toronto has always been a city that prides itself on having it all. Now, it has more, especially when it comes to luxury. Look no further than the influx of fabulous new hotels and restaurants as proof. Recent additions to the downtown core have included The Thompson, The Ritz-Carlton and The Hazelton. But there’s more in store.

It’s a walk on the wild side like no other. And now the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower in Toronto has been awarded the Guinness World Record for the “Highest External Walk on a Building”. 

Next week I’m going to learn about the joys of Tantric sex. Three weeks ago, I discovered the challenges of a black-diamond run at British Columbia’s Whistler Blackcomb ski resort. Got my skis waxed, too.

Once upon a time, in a not-so-far-away land, American and British theatre lovers discovered that in Toronto, ON, they could buy a ticket to a Broadway-calibre show for 100 Canadian dollars, but it would only be $50 or £25 on their credit card statements back home.

Can’t help but notice that old 1950s standby, Red Velvet Cake, turning up on menus across the country. The blowsy red-and-white layer cake—with its chocolate base that turns mahogany-red with a hit of acidic buttermilk and a dose of food colouring—is certainly a show stopper.

It’s Toronto’s turn. Sure, there’s been a hotel or two opening here or there over the past few years in Ontario’s (and Canada’s) Big Apple.

Hats off to Canada! The True North made a strong showing in glossy mag Condé Nast Traveler’s November 2010 issue, Reader’s Choice “Best in the World” ranking.
