1st TEDx conference in Manitoba. Registration deadline looms; only 100 will get a seat.

by Michelle Pentz Glave

Ultra-hip TEDx has reached the Canadian Prairies. Parent TED calls these hot-ticket e-lectures with thought leaders, focusing on idea sharing and discussion, “riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world.”

Anyone “passionate about spreading ideas” can come, but the free one-day event in Winnipeg is limited to 100 attendees. TEDx Manitoba is Feb. 15, 2011; the deadline to apply to attend is Nov. 15. The theme is emergence.

If you miss the VIP in-person treatment, don’t worry. TEDx events are always streamed live. This one may even make it to TED.com, where millions of listeners tune in.
