No greenwashing here: Toronto, ON, is the venue for the 2010 Responsible Travel and Tourism Forum (RTTF). Delegates are meeting today (Oct. 14) at The Old Mill Inn and Spa to chew over sustainability best practices, social purposes and factors that directly affect the tourism industry in Canada—and the world at large.
Also on the table are tips on how to viably connect leadership practices and sustainability strategies, plus case studies from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), the Tour Operators’ Initiative (TOI) and Air Canada.
The keynote speaker at the luncheon—which includes the 2010 RTTF Leadership Award—is Adam Stewart, the 29-year-old (yes, 29!) CEO of Sandals Resorts International. On his menu: how the Sandals Foundation provides the basis for market-leading environmental programs that truly engage everyone from travellers and partners to staff and local communities.
We couldn’t escape to attend the forum, but are expecting plenty of chatter on Twitter today as it unfolds. Sustainability is a subject close to many hearts.
