Carbon offsets. Composting toilets. Grey water recycling. Geothermal heat exchangers. Hybrid vehicles. Low-flow shower heads. Energy audits. This is the language of “going green,” and it’s a massive societal shift that is affecting the tourism and travel business in profound ways.

The newly published Green Your Business: Toolkit for Tourism Operators is a best practices" handbook, stocked with user-friendly, accessible and practical tips.

The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), Tourism Industry Association of Canada, (TIAC), and Parks Canada commissioned the handbook, written by Winnipeg, MB-based Marr Consulting Services.

“One of the CTC’s priorities is to support small- and medium-size enterprises which are the backbone of the economy in many parts of Canada,” said CTC President and CEO Michele McKenzie.  “This toolkit will deliver steps that SMEs can begin implementing today to help promote greener tourism practices.”
