Imagine being stuck in an airport for 80 days. I can’t; or not unless it’s YVR and in that case, it’s downright tempting. Watch some of Jaeger Mah’s entertaining videos from Vancouver International Airport and see what I mean.
The 29-year-old won a contest to help YVR celebrate its 80th anniversary. The deal was he had to eat, sleep and live there for 80 consecutive days and videotape and blog about it.
No need to feel sorry for him; I mean, 80 nights in the luxurious Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel? C’mon!
So what did Mah discover? Well, did you know that YVR has an aquarium with real fish? That its stash of original paintings and sculptures rivals that of an art gallery? Or that YVR is the only airport in the world that collects its own honey from beehives on airport land? It expects to produce more than 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) this year.
Of course, all kinds of airplanes land and take off from YVR. Mah got to stretch out in one of Cathay Pacific’s Boeing 747 First Class suites – yes, that’s suites, not seats – in his pyjamas, lucky guy!
So if you have even 80 minutes to spend at YVR, count yourself lucky. Oh, and see Mah’s ‘Top 24 Things 2 Do While U Wait’ video.
