Canadian Culinary Championships

by Suzanne Morphet

Speed, endurance, ingenuity.

They’ll all count when Canada’s best chefs compete at this year’s Canadian Culinary Championships  in Kelowna, BC on Feb 18 and 19.

You could even say it will be a battle of Olympic proportions. Each chef will be assisted by one of Canada’s Olympic or Paralympic athletes; and each has already won the Gold Medal Plate for his own city.

Now, the top eight culinary superstars are going to duke it out for the national title.

They’ll compete in three events, including the terrifying Black Box, where they have just one hour to plan and create two different dishes using mystery ingredients. And do it in front of hundreds of people and demanding judges. Talk about pressure!

According to head judge James Chatto, anyone could win. Experienced veterans are up against eager young blood. The slightest lapse in concentration spells disaster.

Go Canada Go! I mean, Go Chefs, Go!
