Canada Tourism Commission releases Tourism Snapshot - 2007 Year-in-Review

by Margaret Nevin

August 22, 2008, VANCOUVER, BC – The Canada Tourism Commission (CTC) today released the online publication Tourism Snapshot - 2007 Year-in-Review.

Michele McKenzie, the CTC’s President and CEO, noted that “This annual publication provides a valuable base of information that is used for decision-making and strategic business planning as the CTC strives to make Canada the destination of choice in the nine international tourism markets on which it focuses.”

Tourism Snapshot - 2007 Year-in-Review covers three areas:

  • Tourism Highlights focus on the year’s activities by including facts and figures on tourism spending (domestic and international); tourism GDP and employment; Canada’s Tourism Deficit; and the volume of international travellers (overseas, US and domestic markets);
  • The section on Travellers’ Characteristics supplies a table outlining a wealth of data on international trip characteristics such as expenditures, activities, places visited and length of stay for each of the CTC’s nine core markets;
  • The third area provides an analysis of the CTC’s Core Markets that expands on the data included in the Travellers’ Characteristics table, with key highlights that summarize the salient points for each of the nine international core markets

Tourism Snapshot - 2007 Year-in-Review is now available on the CTC web site:
