Bustle meets bronze: the Canadian Sculpture Centre in Toronto, ON carves out dramatic new space.

Find contemporary Canadian sculptures here. It’s the only gallery in the country dedicated to just sculpture.

Finally, a fall collection that celebrates life in all forms. Think fluid lines. Graceful shapes. Dramatic figures. Unusual materials. You won’t find them on the runways of Paris, but in the heart of Toronto, ON, at the new home of the Canadian Sculpture Centre.

The gallery is a primo exhibition ground for the contemporary sculptors of the Sculptors Society of Canada—and the only gallery dedicated entirely to promoting sculpture in the country. The bustling Church Street location resembles a Manhattan gallery with its arched entranceway, high ceilings and natural light bathing 93 sq m (1,000 sq ft) of exhibit space. Inside, you’ll find mixed-media works that may move and even startle you.

There are twisting figurative works cast in bronze, large-scale installations forged in wood, steel, stone and clay, plus vivid abstracts cast in plaster or welded in steel.

The Centre also puts on monthly themed exhibitions of works by Sculptors Society of Canada members. You can drop in on artist talks during the opening reception. There are juried annual exhibitions of emerging sculptors and graduating students from across Canada. From September to October 2008, the society celebrates its 80th anniversary. Admission is free.
