Vancouver, BC’s Georgian Court Hotel has an entire floor designed for women.

Just check in, and check it out. Invite the gal pals. It’s all here: curling iron, yoga mat, even glossy mags. The whole floor is a femme-only zone.

by Suzanne Morphet

By the time I pack everything I need for a trip, there’s never enough room in my suitcase for extras—like my straightening iron and yoga mat. I know I’m not the only woman in this predicament. The owners of the Georgian Court Hotel in Vancouver, BC, must be reading our minds because they’ve equipped an entire floor of rooms—18 altogether—with the very things women want.

They call it the Orchid Floor. Each bathroom boasts hair irons and all kinds of posh Aveda amenities. In the hall closet, you’ll find satin-padded hangers, a pink yoga mat and an “emergency” kit. (Remember the last time you got a run in your panty hose and didn’t have a spare set?)

You don’t even need to pack reading material: the latest In Style and Holts magazines are waiting for you. And when you open your door for your morning newspaper, you don’t need to worry about a man seeing you in your nightie; this floor is women-only. The best part? These extras don’t show up on your bill. Even internet access is complimentary.

Another perk: It’s just off Robson St.—Vancouver’s most fashionable shopping district—and across from GM Place and BC Place.

No wonder a lot of celebs call this hotel home. When I visited, award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter Jann Arden was staying there, along with her pooch. Yep, the Georgian Court is pet-friendly, too.
