The panty’s in the mail.

Step aside Cupid: this Canadian company offers a better route to romance than your stupid old arrows.

by Julie Ovenell-Carter

Recession be damned, romance will prevail! Seems more of us than ever are planning to sneak away with someone special this year, according to a recent TripAdvisor survey. The problem with romantic getaways for me is that, well, I never seem to have a thing to wear. I am speaking here of what the Victorians referred to as “pretties”—those charming little underthings meant to inspire intimacy. It seems the second drawer in my old oak dresser is heavy on what might be better termed “practicals”—prosaic and utterly plain.
Lucky for me I’m not the only one with this problem, or the new Canadian online company Panty By Post wouldn’t be thriving. Vancouverites (British Columbia) Natalie Grunberg and Lori Sholzberg want women everywhere to approach their panty drawers the same way they once approached the candy counter—with anticipation and enthusiasm. To that end, they’re offering women (and The Ones Who Love Them) the chance to receive a sexy new pair of panties by mail, up to 12 times a year. Buy the $188 CDN annual “subscription”— and you’ll get a kicky new thong, bikini or boy-cut panty from Montréal, QC’sBlush Lingerie slipped through your slot each month. Hey, maybe you don’t have to get away to find romance after all—maybe it’ll come to you…
