The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) markets Canada as a top travel destination to nine key international markets. While the US is the CTC's largest market, we also target the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, Australia, China, Japan and Korea. Part of promoting Canada, of course, is working with the media. The CTC Media Centre aims to inspire journalists to write their own stories about Canada. Here you will find fresh story ideas, daily news items about the CTC, and an Industry Forum where members of the Canadian tourism industry may contribute newsworthy items. The Media Centre also provides other helpful resources, like downloadable photos, video and maps. With fresh content published daily, we hope our media centre will be a great source of new ideas to inspire and support your writing about Canada and the Canadian tourism industry. Contact us if you'd like to see something new or different on this site; we'd love to hear from you.
travel assistance
To produce your best work, you really have to get there and the Canadian Tourism Commission may be able to help. Qualified journalists who hope to visit and research Canadian destinations are invited to apply for travel support.
If you are a Canadian journalist, your best approach is to contact our provincial and territorial partners who may be able to help with ground expenses and cost-share with CTC on your transportation. Please contact us at least a month in advance of your planned trip and be ready to tell us all about yourself and your work!
If you are a journalist working outside Canada, please get in touch with the CTC media relations representative in your country.
writer directory
The CTC Writer Directory includes the names of journalists who have attended our most recent GoMedia Canada Marketplace media event as well as the authors of our CTC Media Centre story ideas and essays.
brand toolkit
We have developed a brand toolkit which will offer tips on how to write about Canada for different audiences and to understand how Canada is being promoted by the CTC. We invite you to download a PDF of the Brand Toolkit from our Corporate website.
